One of the scrub jays that visits me regularly recently broke one of her wings. It's been interesting to watch her adapt to a life "on the ground." She now shells her peanuts before caching them - she used to cache them whole. She's been very industrious in securing safe habitats for herself. She naps in a thorned palm, for instance. It's been a week since her accidents and she's now hopping to the tops of the same trees and rooftops that she used to fly to. She's quite amazing. Plus she has me almost completely trained.
